TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR CLUTTER
BEFORE IT TAKES CONTROL OF YOU!
General Information
1. |
Start small. Tackle a kitchen drawer one day, a bathroom cupboard another. |
2. |
For every NEW item you bring into your home, eliminate at least one old item. |
3. |
Organize like articles with like – tools, spices, books, craft items, etc. |
4. |
When you finish with an article, put it back where it belongs. |
5. |
Store items used occasionally in a less accessible place. |
6. |
Be realistic: Are you really going to repair that clock that’s been gathering dust in your garage for 5 years? Donate it to a fixer-upper person. |
Paper-Handling Tips
7. |
Open mail over recycle basket, immediately disposing of envelopes and fillers. |
8. |
Handle each piece of paper once. Decide what needs to be done, add a post-it note to remind you... and then put it in a logical place to be handled. |
9. |
Deal with "take action" items within one week to ensure that important items don't get buried and bills are paid on time. |
10. |
File papers once a week to prevent filing from becoming a burden and in order to locate information quickly and easily. |
